Dear whoever,
I have some advice to ask of you. My friend, Siddhartha, is troubling me with the way he is acting. He has become greedy and envious of others, two things i was sure he would never become. He lusts after money, women and food and has become obsessed with the high from gambling. "He loved that anxiety, that terrible and oppressive anxiety which he experienced during the game of dice, during the suspense of high stakes." Siddhartha has even lost his 3 ways which once consumed his life: thinking, fasting, and waiting. I am afraid he has become callused, unhappy and cold, dare i say...ordinary. I'm afraid Siddhartha has lost his path. "His face assumed the expressions which are so often found among rich people- the expressions of discontent, sickliness, of displeasure, of idleness, of lovelessness."

Dear Chichi,
It seems as though what you say is true, Siddhartha has lost his way. Maybe try talkng some sense into him, or guiding him back onto his rightful path. OR if this doesnt work, we must trust in siddhartha to make the right decision, but in his own time. From what you say, Siddhartha is very knowledgeable and seems to know the virtues and values of life. Think of this wasted ten years as a detour in Siddhartha's life. A detour which will contribute to the growth of his knowledge and outlook on life, this will also assure him in the way which he believes in. I think this mistake may have been all part of an unseen path for Siddhartha.
